Position

Description:

The Postdoc will conduct research across all project tasks in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Project Manager and will be responsible for supervising the work of the PhD student employed in the project. The Postdoc will also travel to conduct measurements in European laboratories (XRF and cryo-electron microscopy). As needed, the Postdoc will also participate in workshops (e.g., EMBO and iNEXT ) to gain new knowledge from experts in the field, as well as present their results at international and national conferences.

Research activities will be conducted autonomously within an international research network encompassing several leading institutions in Europe. The Postdoc will be responsible for conducting data analysis and literature searches, attending laboratory meetings, and writing publications.

The applicant must meet the requirements set out in Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws 2018, item 1668, as amended) and in the Statute of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences

Mandatory requirements:

  • 1. PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics or related fields;
  • 2. Knowledge of the principles of molecular biology, biochemistry and/or biophysics;
  • 3. Knowledge of photobiology, especially photosynthesis;
  • 4. Knowledge of the biology of membranes and membrane proteins;
  • 5. Laboratory experience in at least one of the following: cyanobacterial cultures, cell envelope isolation, protein isolation and characterization (e.g. protein chromatography, electrophoresis under native and denaturing conditions, protein chromatography, mass spectrometry, in vivo assays and in vitro assays);
  • 6. Experience in electron microscopy and/or X-ray crystallography will be an advantage;
  • 7. Experience in UV-VIS spectroscopy and/or X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy will be an advantage;
  • 8. Fluent knowledge of English;
  • 9. Excellent teamwork, interpersonal skills and initiative (proactivity required!);
  • 10. Ability to organize work independently, rationally and independently;
  • 11. Ability to prepare, organize and maintain appropriate experimental documentation;
