Project title:
Unlocking Access to New Bioisosteric Motifs:
Radical Reactions and Reagents for the Incorporation of NCF3 and NCF2H Functional Groups

Job description

The main tasks will involve:

  • literature and data analysis;
  • development of new precursors for NCF3 and NCF2H radicals;
  • synthesis of model substrates for the reactions;
  • optimization and scope studies of the new reactions;
  • assistance with mechanistic studies;
  • evaluation of physicochemical properties of target isosteres;
  • analytical characterization of new compounds (NMR, MS, IR)

A prerequisite for qualifying for the project is the status of being a PhD student at a Doctoral School.   • Master degree in chemistry (awarded before 01.10.2026);
  • very good knowledge of organic chemistry;
  • ability to interpret and analyze experimental data (including NMR and MS spectra)
  • good written and spoken English;
  • strong motivation for scientific work
  • ability to work independently as well as in a group,
  • previous research experience, documented by co-authorship of scientific publications or letter from research advisor
  • personal skills: creativity, responsibility, excellent communication, organization and time management skills, willingness to learn, critical problem solving skills;
  • previous experience in radical chemistry, photochemistry, and transition-metal catalysis

Additional Information

Terms of employment: scholarship for 48 months (01.10.2026 – 30.09.2030) - stipend 5,000 PLN gross gross per month paid until midterm evalution; 6,500 PLN gross gross per month paid from the next month after midterm evaluation, funded by an NCN grant.

The salary level is consistent with the compensation guidelines for comparable PhD Student positions in projects funded by the National Science Centre.
