Offer Description

The candidate selected in the competition will join the Laboratory of Biological Physics
SL-4 of the Institute of Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences, as a researcher in the field
of biophysics/biological physics. The person will collaborate with the current staff and
conduct their own research.

Job Description:

The job offer is addressed to people who are passionate about science, who find
satisfaction in conducting interdisciplinary research, for whom the employment at the
Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences will be a good opportunity to
develop scientific topics related to the properties and functions of biomolecules. The
selected person will participate in the ongoing research in the field of protein dynamics,
with an emphasis on intrinsically disordered proteins, including conformational changes,
hydrodynamics, molecular interactions and liquid-liquid phase separation. The candidate
is also intended to bring a broader perspective by developing new theoretical or
experimental approaches and/or topics related to the research on physical bases
underlying biological phenomena. The topics can encompass i.a. physics of biopolymers
at molecular level and biophysical properties of self-assembling biomolecular systems.
Theoretical methods can be based i.a. on molecular dynamics computer simulations
by full atom or coarse-grained modelling, statistical methods, classical and quantum
mechanics calculations, deep-learning (AI), or quantum computing.
Requirements:

• Professorship, habilitation or PhD in biophysics, physics, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology or related disciplines;
• Academic background in physics;
• High quality of research achievements in one's field;
• Relevant scientific experience documented by publications;
• Experience with concepts, techniques and methods of biophysics;
• Brief presentation of the scientific plans for the employment period;
• Proficiency in spoken and written English language allowing for scientific contacts, grant application, publication writing etc.;
• Sufficient command of spoken and written Polish to independently handle administrative matters, or a declaration of commitment to acquire such proficiency as soon as possible;
• Reliability and diligence at work, creativity, ability to work in an interdisciplinary group.

• Professor: 9,745.00 PLN gross monthly
• Associate professor (prof. IF PAN) with habilitation: 8,088.00 PLN gross monthly
• Assistant professor (adjunct): 7,114.00 PLN gross monthly
• Assistant: 4,888.00 PLN gross monthly
