Guidewire Pricing and Rating Team:
We are part of the team responsible for building and maintaining an insurance pricing platform, which enables insurers to build and deploy advanced pricing models. Leveraging a modern technology stack, machine learning libraries and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes), the platform ensures scalability, performance, and security - driving higher profitability for insurers and greater satisfaction for policyholders.

The Pricing and Rating platform is a strategic initiative of Guidewire, receiving significant focus and momentum, particularly from a recruitment and resources perspective.

You’d be joining a growing team of ~15 engineers divided into agile pods, working on a young product, on a fresh codebase, where lots of decisions still need to be made. Our teams take ownership of all aspects of the software development lifecycle for their solutions, including architecture, coding, quality assurance, infrastructure and deployment strategies. We cooperate with the product team on a daily basis and support sales and customers success teams to drive our product excellence.

This role is primarily remote, with flexible working hours. Occasional in-person meetings are required.

FastAPI, Flask, SQL Alchemy, Pydantic, Celery

Data:
Num Py, pandas, Polars

Infrastructure: AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Redis

• Python development of RESTful APIs using Flask and FastAPI with extensive use of SQL Alchemy and pydantic
• Analysing requirements, proposing solutions, spiking, building PoCs and production grade, well tested solutions and releasing them
• Supporting, optimizing and maintaining our solutions to meet our SLOs
• Cooperating with team members through PR reviews, RFCs/ADRs and agile ceremonies

• Proficiency in Python development (with minimum of 6 years of experience)
• Experience with FastAPI, SQL Alchemy, Pydantic, Celery
• Experience in building software for high availability using Kubernetes, Docker and cloud-native technologies
• Experience using public cloud providers, preferably AWS (including Kubernetes, IAM, S3)
• Strong foundation in algorithmics and data structures
• Experience in taking ownership of quality through test automation (TDD, BDD are nice to have), preferably in environment with no formal QA role
• Expertise in profiling and performance optimization at code, database and infrastructure levels
• A high sense of responsibility, good work ethic and a natural curiosity and openness to new ideas and tools
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in an English‑speaking environment
• You are ready to face challenges and solve complex technical problems.
• You enjoy working with people and don’t mind occasional face‑to‑face meetings with the team when needed

• Data engineering background or interest, familiarity with Num Py, pandas, Polars
