We are seeking a Senior Backend Java Developer with basic frontend experience to contribute to a project within the banking sector. The person in this role will focus on designing, implementing and improving backend APIs and services across both microservice and monolithic architectures. The position emphasises resilient design, domain-driven design (DDD), port-adapter architecture and reactive technologies to deliver high-quality customer-facing solutions and to enable streamlined future development.
Responsibilities- Design, implement and maintain backend APIs and services in Java with emphasis on reliability, scalability and maintainability.
- Develop and enhance components within microservice and monolith architectures, applying domain-driven design and port-adapter patterns.
- Apply reactive programming paradigms and reactive stacks to build responsive and resilient systems.
- Collaborate with frontend colleagues, including teams using Angular, and with other stakeholders to ensure smooth integration and delivery of features.
- Author and maintain automated tests and support behaviour-driven development practices using frameworks such as Cucumber.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews and continuous improvement activities to uphold coding standards and SOLID principles.
- Manage source code and collaborate via Git-based workflows.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to more junior team members when required.
- Higher education in IT or a related discipline is preferred.
- At least six years of hands‑on experience in Java development.
- Basic experience with frontend development.
- Practical experience with reactive programming and reactive stacks.
- Working knowledge of the Spring framework and Hibernate.
- Experience with behaviour‑driven testing frameworks such as Cucumber.
- Proficiency with SQL, RESTful API design and microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with version control using Git.
- Solid understanding of SOLID principles and common design patterns.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
