Van Operator
WCA Services / ALSTAR EMS is seeking a Van Operator to join their team at their Jamestown location. This full-time opportunity offers a Tuesday - Saturday, 2pm - 10:30pm schedule. A minimum of a Class C with N2 Restriction and Passenger Endorsement is required.
As a Van Operator, you'll be responsible for the safe operation of wheelchair van/vehicles, while also using care and skill in driving techniques to avoid sudden motion that would be detrimental to passengers. Must have current driver's license and appropriate CDL credentials.
Responsibilities:
- Safely transport wheelchair-bound patients as appropriate.
- Complete DOT log book per regulations.
- Check vehicle per DOT standards beginning each shift.
- Reports vehicle problems or defects to supervisor.
- Complete billing forms and issue receipts for payment as necessary.
- Operate assigned vehicle safely during driving, parking, and backing up actions. Turning right on red is prohibited.
- Respond to and complete assigned calls in a timely fashion.
- Ensure safety of vehicle occupants with proper restraints.
- Ensure cleanliness of vehicle, inside and out.
- Proactively works to improve services and results and takes initiative to identify opportunities for improvement and implements accordingly.
- Demonstrates and delivers quality customer service to internal and external customers, always keeping patient/customer satisfaction a priority.
- Provides patient care and/or generates work results that are thorough, accurate, orderly and value-added consistent with hospital policies and procedures.
- Anticipates internal and/or external customer needs and facilitates meeting those needs.
- Accepts responsibility for own behavior and actions.
- Works independently without reminders regarding timeliness and quality of work.
- Meets commitments, goals and deadlines and drives work/projects forward; follows up as needed.
Must maintain NYS 19A education and testing requirements at an appropriate level of CDL.
Ability to render professional driving and customer service. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Must have at minimum a valid CDL class `C' driver's license with Passenger Endorsement within 30 days of hire.
Must undergo and pass random drug and alcohol testing. New York Mandated Reporter – Due within 90 days of hire or transfer.
