Teaching faculty at GTCC are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. They are responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation in the affairs of the college.

Under general supervision, this individual will help assess and grade PTA students on skills tests and practical exams. Under the supervision of a full‑time instructor, this individual may also teach selected subjects within courses.

• Develop learner‑centered lesson plans
• Employ teaching strategies and instructional materials for different learning styles
• Incorporate current technology in classroom, distance learning, and laboratory environments as pedagogically appropriate
• Create and model a quality learning environment that supports a diverse student population
• Prepare, distribute and utilize instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate
• Conduct appropriate assessment of student learning outcomes in courses and programs/general education as appropriate

• Participate in professional development activities to maintain currency in the field; maintain current credentials or licenses as required by program or accreditation
• Participate in professional development opportunities to advance teaching skills and strategies

• Maintain classroom and laboratory spaces including upkeep of assigned equipment
• Provide for the security of facilities, equipment and instructional materials and maintain safe working conditions
• Maintain student records (e.g., grades and attendance) in accordance with established deadlines using a variety of technology‑based programs (e.g., Colleague, Web Advisor, Moodle)
• Comply with all applicable college, state and federal rules and regulations

• Address student concerns in a timely manner
• Promote retention/persistence by assisting students to develop strategies for success
• Refer students to campus and community resources when appropriate
• Demonstrate and model the College’s employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility and teamwork

Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy or an Associate’s degree in Physical Therapist Assistant with a Bachelor’s degree in a health‑related field
• Current unencumbered licensure in North Carolina as a Physical Therapist or a Physical Therapist Assistant

• Master’s degree or higher in Physical Therapy

• Two years of full‑time (or equivalent) post‑licensure clinical practice
• Two years of clinical practice as a Clinical Instructor (CI) or two years of experience teaching in a physical therapist assistant education program
• Experience working in inpatient rehabilitation
• Experience working in pediatric physical therapy
