Job Description

Summary:

Duties/Functions Teaching
  • Prepare and teach departmental courses covering construction methods and materials, construction estimating and scheduling, and construction contracts and management.
  • Develop learner‑centered lesson plans and employ diverse teaching strategies to address different learning styles.
  • Integrate current technology in classroom, distance‑learning, and laboratory environments.
  • Create a quality learning environment that supports a diverse student population.
  • Prepare, distribute, and utilize instructional support materials, including syllabi and supplementary media.
  • Conduct assessments of student learning outcomes for courses and programs.
Professional Development
  • Maintain professional status and curriculum relevance through participation in professional development activities.
  • Earn and keep current credentials or licenses required by the program or accreditation.
  • Participate in opportunities to advance teaching skills and strategies.
Administration
  • Maintain classroom and laboratory spaces, including equipment upkeep.
  • Ensure security of facilities, equipment, and instructional materials and maintain safe working conditions.
  • Maintain student records (grades, attendance) using technology‑based programs such as Colleague, Web Advisor, and Moodle within deadlines.
  • Comply with all applicable college, state, and federal rules and regulations.
Student Support
  • Address student concerns promptly.
  • Promote retention and persistence by assisting students in developing success strategies.
  • Refer students to campus and community resources as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate and model the College's employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility, and teamwork.
Education Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management from an institutionally accredited university.
Education Preferred
  • Master's degree in Construction Management or related field with 18 graduate credit hours in Construction Management topics from an institutionally accredited university.
  • Current industry‑recognized certification within the field of construction management (e.g., certified construction manager, OSHA Construction Industry Trainer).
KSA Required
  • The instructor shall possess an understanding of and commitment to the nature and role of the Community College, particularly its mission and culture.
