Job Purpose

The Special Inspections / QA Associate coordinates, schedules and executes all requests for Corporate and Customer associated special product inspections (inspections that are either supplemental to or in lieu of the nominal merchandise inspection process). In addition, the Inspector examines all multiple replacement customer associated merchandise, as well as items that have been sent to the manufacturer for repair or modification, determines disposition and routes product to the appropriate area for proper resolution.

Communicates the disposition of all customer‑related and stock pieces to the proper associate(s) and department(s). The Inspector documents piece status, labels with requisite paperwork and physically transports items to the next area of processing. The Inspector assists Service Associates with questions regarding Quality and Shop dispositions. The Special Inspections / Quality Assurance Inspector assists Distribution and Delivery with the documentation, labeling and transportation of items from Unconfirmed (cancelled) Delivery Stops.

The Quality Assurance Inspector serves as a service advisor for Shop Outbound Inspections (INP
01) and a backup for the Check‑In group.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities
  • Work with Sales, Delivery, Service and Customers to schedule and execute Special Inspection requests.
  • Coordinate with Service, Sales and Receiving to provide MFR quality assessment inspections of shipments with recurrent quality issues and work with RMF associates for resolutions.
  • Research all items (Special Inspection / Multiple Replacement / Repair & Return) to determine if items display new or recurrent manufacturer quality or damage issues. Also verifies if items are ordered correctly or if mfg shipped incorrectly or tagged incorrectly by Receiving.
  • Coordinate with Repair Shop to establish repair feasibility and shop repair times.
  • Enter items on pull list (for customer, Sales and Corporate requested Special Inspections).
  • Assist Sales with pulling DC stock products for customer inspection prior to purchase.
  • Assemble KD items as needed as part of the inspections process.
  • Process and key paperwork for RMF, Investigations, Shop, Clearance routing.
  • Inspect product thoroughly for Quality, damage or Sales‑Related issues.
  • Co‑inspect with Sales / Service / Customers to identify and explain issues with products and provide options for resolution.
  • Enter chargebacks to manufacturers for repairs in FAS.
  • Coordinate with RMF and Investigations on Quality or Sales related issues.
  • Serve as back‑up inspector for the Check‑In/Returns Group.
  • Assist Shipping Coordinator/Delivery Department with the Unconfirmed Stop Bump process.
  • Operate weight scales and weigh furniture returned from deliveries.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or manager.
  • Be open to suggest any ideas for improvement.
  • Arrive punctually and consistently for work during normally scheduled hours.
  • Perform various related duties as required.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Working Conditions

This job is an onsite position that operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Qualifications Required

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent with two or more years of related experience.

Preferred Education And Experience
  • College degree preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience working in Inventory, Inspections, or related field.
