Why This Role MattersThis executive team position will unify our technical resources, optimize workflows, foster cross-departmental collaboration, and position Interstate Engineering as an industry leader in advanced technology and talent development. You will guide Technical Group Leaders across disciplines (CADD, Construction, GIS, Hydrology and Hydraulics, Planning, Landscape Architecture, Pool/Aquatics/Recreation, Structural, Survey, Water and Wastewater, Funding) to deliver exceptional results while aligning with firm-wide goals.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute a strategic vision for technical operations, ensuring high-quality, innovative deliverables across all technical groups.
- Provide strategic oversight, mentorship, and performance guidance to Technical Group Leaders.
- Collaborate with RVPs, Office Managers, COO, HR, IT, CGO, Marketing, and Community Engagement to allocate resources, integrate outputs, and incorporate client/community feedback.
- Drive talent acquisition, professional development, succession planning, and adoption of cutting‑edge tools/software.
- Conduct SWOT analyses, recommend technology investments, and promote achievements through case studies, awards, and presentations.
- Ensure seamless project delivery, industry relevance, and alignment with executive team priorities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Planning, Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
- 12 to 15+ years of progressive experience in technical management, with 5+ years in senior leadership overseeing multidisciplinary teams. PE, PLS, AICP, PLA, or equivalent certification preferred.
- Broad knowledge of multidisciplinary technical disciplines relevant to civil engineering, surveying, planning, and related fields, along with familiarity with industry‑standard software and design tools.
- Proven track record in strategic planning, talent management, project management, and cross‑functional collaboration in engineering/professional services.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
