- The Principal Engineer serves as the senior technical authority for a large‑scale enterprise voice and endpoint ecosystem spanning 400+ locations, 50,000 endpoints, and 8 independent Cisco Unified Communications environments. This role provides architectural leadership, drives modernization, ensures platform reliability, and guides engineering teams in delivering a resilient, secure, and scalable communications infrastructure.
- Lead the technical design and implementation of the organization's network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, wireless, and network security, to ensure the highest level of performance, reliability, and security.
- Develop and implement network policies, procedures, and standards that align with industry best practices. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other network engineers.
- Collaborate with other IT teams, business units, and stakeholders to understand and meet network requirements. Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
- Stay current with emerging network technologies and trends and provide proactive recommendations about future state goals and technologies. Work with vendors and service providers to evaluate and implement new network technologies, tools, and services.
- Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans for the networking infrastructure. Lead concurrent network projects to improve performance, reliability, and scalability. Coordinate with infrastructure and security architects, network engineers, business analysts, leadership, and other stakeholders to ensure timely project completion and proactive maintenance.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field required.
- Eight years experience in network engineering with at least two years in a senior or principal level role.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with network routing, switching, LAN/WAN, wireless, network design and architecture, network protocols, and network security.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor network engineers.
- Advanced networking certifications desired.
- Must possess advanced technical knowledge and experience along with excellent communication, collaboration skills, and presentation skills across technology disciplines.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal oversight as well as collaboratively as part of multi‑disciplined teams.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to prioritize and lead multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
