• The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.
• Demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for the resident in the relevant clinical setting and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge.
• Performs testing to evaluate data reflective of the resident's status and provides the care needed.
• Recognizes problems, recommends solutions, and responds effectively to assist in emergent situations.
• Ensures the health, comfort and safety of residents.
• Contributes to the assessment of residents and administers medications or treatments as ordered.
• Provides technical support to healthcare professionals as needed.
• Documents resident interactions, outcomes related to care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary.
• Maintains effective working relationships with residents, health care providers, and the public; collaborates as an interdisciplinary care team.
• Communicates clearly and maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Counsels residents, family members and/or resident advocates on prevention and treatment plans.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse. An associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
• If IV therapy/management is required, meet North Dakota requirements (graduation from a Board-approved AASPN program with IV therapy in curriculum or an approved IV Therapy course).
• Minimum of 18 years of age.
• Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program with supervised clinical experience or have at least 400 hours of LPN experience; additional role-specific requirements may apply.
• Current unencumbered LPN license with the state nursing board and/or multi-state licensure privileges. Maintain department-specific competencies and certifications; complete required annual CEUs and competency training.
