Job Summary
Senior Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as an experienced caregiver to residents in a long‑term care setting. The NA provides resident‑centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The role includes assisting with basic health care, documentation, housekeeping, and supporting clinical staff as needed.
Responsibilities- Administer daily living activities including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, and vital sign monitoring.
- Assist with transfers, repositioning, walking, and range‑of‑motion exercises using proper techniques and equipment.
- Prepare and deliver meals, ensuring a positive dining experience for residents.
- Collect non‑invasive specimens and record vital signs for documentation.
- Maintain resident privacy and safety, and follow infection prevention and control policies.
- Support wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident participation.
- Document resident interactions, care outcomes, behavior, and dietary information.
- Participate in departmental committees and restorative nursing programs as required.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license required.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical or nursing assistant experience in long‑term care preferred.
- High school diploma or GED preferred; not required.
- Medical clearance and ability to perform essential driving functions if assigned as a Sanford Category II Driver.
- Completion of state board of nursing requirements and annual competency testing.
- Minimum of 12 hours of continuing education credits annually.
- Completion of Restorative Nursing training within 6 months if required.
- For applicable states, registration with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry may be required.
