Cost Accountant, Financial Controller, Financial Reporting
Gem Care is recruiting a Plant Controller for a well‑established manufacturing company located approximately 45 minutes from Crossville, Tennessee
. This is a direct‑hire opportunity offering a competitive compensation and benefits package.
Salary: $125,000–$150,000+, depending on relevant product and industry experience.
The Plant Controller will serve as the senior financial leader for the facility and work closely with the Plant Manager, executive leadership, engineering, quality, purchasing, and operations teams.
Key responsibilities include:- Leading plant‑level financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and month‑end close
- Managing cost accounting, standard costs, routings, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variances
- Analyzing scrap, rework, downtime, tooling amortization, labor, overhead, and part‑level profitability
- Overseeing perpetual inventory, cycle counts, annual physical inventory, obsolescence, and reserves
- Developing KPI dashboards related to utilization, scrap, delivery performance, and manufacturing costs
- Preparing ROI and payback analyses for presses, furnaces, tooling, automation, and other capital investments
- Supporting new‑product quoting, program awards, and customer‑specific cost models
- Maintaining strong internal controls over inventory, fixed assets, purchasing, tooling, and manufacturing transactions
- Partnering with plant leadership to translate financial data into practical operational improvements
- Supervising and developing plant accounting or administrative personnel, as applicable
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- At least 5–8 years of progressive accounting or finance experience in manufacturing
- Strong cost accounting and standard‑costing experience
- Experience with job‑costing or process‑costing methodologies
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and manufacturing financial controls
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Automotive or industrial OEM supplier experience is strongly preferred
- Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting‑tool experience is a plus
The ideal candidate will be a hands‑on financial leader who is comfortable working on the production floor, partnering with operations, and identifying opportunities to improve margins, reduce waste, strengthen controls, and support profitable growth.
