Construction Technician
Location:
Janesville, WI
Support the firm’s construction group on a variety of projects ranging from roadways and bridges to underground installation and infrastructure construction. Requires at least 2 years of experience.
Responsibilities- Conduct on-site observations of work, repairs, and tests as needed.
- Monitor progress schedule and shop drawing log.
- Provide general civil engineering and municipal client service.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with residents, businesses, and public agency representatives.
- Resolve construction conflicts and prepare cost‑effective solutions.
- Review pay requests and verify work completion.
- Provide protection for owner against defects and deficiencies in the work.
- Serve as liaison with contractors, primarily through contractor’s superintendent.
- Maintain job site records of daily reports, meeting minutes, approved shop drawing submittals, and pay requests.
- Track records of time, equipment, and material needs for any changes that may result in a change order. Review and request adjustments of compensation and/or contract time.
- Observe, measure, and document construction activities.
- Maintain a daily log of construction activities.
- Prepare payment estimates.
- Address resident complaints and concerns.
- Coordinate with contractors and perform other duties as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience as a Construction Inspector or Technician on construction projects.
- Effective oral and written communication with residents, businesses, and public agencies.
- Ability to travel throughout the southeastern Wisconsin area with own transportation.
- Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
Pay range: $28.00 – $40.00 per hour.
