Overview
Position focuses on designing, developing and evaluating sensor assemblies using engineering principles. The role includes identifying customer needs, developing product solutions, creating and maintaining engineering documentation, and supporting product development from concept through production.
Responsibilities- Identify customer needs and develop product solutions to meet applicable requirements based on product design and function.
- Identify appropriate concepts and organize functional model development (design, building, and testing) to verify concepts.
- Establish design concepts, BOMs, and engineering assumptions for customer quotations.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation such as bills of materials, DFMEA, specifications, NRE costs and other engineering documentation.
- Work with and/or direct technicians and designers in product development activities.
- Develop detailed drawing sets and specifications from concept through production at component and assembly levels.
- Perform statistical analyses such as SPC to verify part/process conformance/capabilities.
- Analyze dimensional stack-ups and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing techniques.
- Coordinate efforts with customer engineering to provide necessary technical support.
- Assist other engineers with high-level technical and scientific problems related to sensors.
- Identify, track, and resolve open issues for products under development.
- Interface with peers, technical resources outside the company (university professors, vendors, customers).
- Create prototype process flows and quote prototype materials.
- Procure prototype sources/tooling and verify tooling capability.
- Test and validate; establish and implement Engineering Development and Design Validation test plans.
- Perform prototype product failure analysis on customer returns, scrap & DV/PV parts, and report results.
- Review DVP&R and test results.
- Provide moderate support of APQP activities, plant support, purchasing, sales and failure analysis.
- Propose and evaluate cost saving solutions for existing products.
- Assist in the development of procedures and implement those procedures required for TS16949 and ISO 14001.
- Observe Fleet Safety Program when operating a vehicle for work purposes as directed by management.
- Support, promote, and perform in a manner consistent with continuous improvement goals and the values of SSI Technologies, LLC, including following QMS and ISO 14001 requirements.
- All other duties as assigned by Your Supervisor.
Education:
Bachelor s degree in engineering related field, required.
Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office, required. Supports engineering team during customer meetings, required. Intermediate project management knowledge.
