Senior Mechanical Engineer ASME Tanks & Piping | Nuclear Construction | USA

If you are experienced in ASME B31.3, piping stress, tanks, and site execution and you want to apply that expertise to a first‑of‑a‑kind nuclear facility this could be a very exciting opportunity.

We’re supporting an advanced nuclear programme delivering a highly complex isotope production facility. They’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to take ownership of critical auxiliary systems across design, procurement, fabrication, and installation.

This isn’t desk engineering. This is real system ownership on an active nuclear construction site.

The Role

You’ll own key mechanical systems including demineralized water, nitrogen handling, compressed gases, purge systems, HVAC, and chemical reagent systems.

From issuing design packages to walking down installed equipment in the field, you’ll drive systems from concept through commissioning.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Own auxiliary mechanical systems across design, procurement, installation, and turnover
  • Prepare and issue design packages, specifications, calculations, and test plans
  • Lead stakeholder reviews of system design documentation
  • Interface directly with vendors on fabrication, FATs, SATs, and delivery performance
  • Review and approve vendor documentation under nuclear quality requirements
  • Support incoming inspection of bespoke equipment
  • Partner with Construction on field queries, issue resolution, and equipment walkdowns
  • Collaborate with Project Controls on schedule performance and reporting
What They’re Looking For
  • 15+ years’ relevant project experience in complex industrial or nuclear environments
  • Strong working knowledge of ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code
  • Experience with ASME tank design and piping stress analysis
  • Understanding of seismic structural fundamentals
  • Experience supporting live construction environments
  • Background working within a nuclear quality system
  • Proficiency with tools such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, Solid Works, or Auto Pipe
  • Experience with HVAC, filtration systems, valve specification, and fluid system instrumentation
  • Familiarity with fire protection standards such as NFPA 801 is a plus
Why This Role
  • Full system ownership.
  • Hands‑on involvement in a live nuclear build.
  • High technical depth with real accountability.
