Description
Chrysalis is SHINE's flagship Molybdenum-99 production facility, designed to become the world's largest isotope production facility and a first-of-a-kind, nuclear-enabled chemical processing plant. Chrysalis will directly expand the supply of a critical medical isotope used in tens of millions of diagnostic procedures each year, at a moment when the global supply chain badly needs it.
The Sr. Designer (CAD) leads design work to support plant systems, including process systems (piping, pressure vessels, pumps, valves, and similar components), HVAC, fire protection, civil and structural systems, cooling systems, electrical distribution, and architectural features. In addition to producing design deliverables, the Senior CAD Designer owns the integrated model of record, checks and approves the work of other designers, maintains SHINE's CAD and BIM standards, and provides technical direction to the design staff.
The annual base salary range for this position is $95,000.00 - $ plus a comprehensive compensation package. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. This is a hybrid position located in Janesville, WI.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Design Development and Modeling- Develop preliminary layouts, piping routing studies, and equipment arrangements in advance of detailed engineering direction, exercising independent judgment within applicable codes, standards, and project specifications, and identifying when engineering input or calculation is required.
- Develop the design and drafting of complex piping drawings from baseline information such as P&IDs, General Arrangements (GA), piping specifications, and equipment arrangement drawings.
- Create and modify Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&), and 3D plant and system piping in AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit and Solid Works
- Create and modify 3D models and associated detailed 2D drawings for structural and architectural design in Revit.
- Create and modify process skids in Solid Works, incorporating reference geometry imported from external CAD platforms.
- Modify 3D models of tanks, vessels, piping, and equipment, and generate the associated detailed mechanical drawings.
- Review designs for constructability and maintainability, coordinating pipe support and seismic restraint locations with structural design and verifying maintenance access and equipment removal envelopes.
- Serve as designated reviewer for design deliverables, back-checking drawings and models produced by other designers against P&IDs, piping specifications, applicable codes, and drafting standards prior to issue.
- Document review comments and verify their resolution, escalating unresolved technical questions to the responsible engineer.
- Verify that deliverables conform to SHINE's quality assurance program requirements for design output and design verification.
- Create and maintain CAD and BIM standards, including drawing templates, title blocks, layer and level conventions, and symbol libraries.
- Build and maintain AutoCAD Plant 3D project configuration, piping specifications, and component catalogs, and maintain Revit family libraries.
- Own the federated multi-discipline model of record, including model structure, file referencing, and coordinate system control.
- Plan and execute clash detection cycles in Navisworks, maintain the resolution log, and drive conflicts to closure with the responsible disciplines.
- Partner with engineers and stakeholders across multiple review formats to translate technical feedback and informal design notes into accurate model updates and work across the engineering organization to identify and resolve design conflicts, updating the integrated model accordingly.
- Provide technical direction, training, and onboarding to designers on CAD standards, tools, and design workflows. This position is not a supervisory position.
- Develop drafting hour estimates and sequence design deliverables to support the project schedule.
- Review vendor drawings and equipment submittals and incorporate approved vendor information into the model.
- Generate piping isometrics, spool drawings, and material takeoffs, and resolve fabrication and installation queries from vendors and construction partners.
- Conduct walkdowns of the plant site and installed systems to capture as-built conditions and reconcile them against the model of record.
- Prepare and evaluate design change documentation and field change requests, and process resulting model and drawing revisions in accordance with the configuration management program.
- Manage drawing revision control and interface with Document Control for issue, release, and retention of controlled design documents.
- Associate degree in engineering or a related discipline and seven (7) to ten (10) years of recent design experience; or a…
