Information Technology Infrastructure Engineer

Birchwood Foods is seeking a senior-level IT Infrastructure Engineer to serve as one of the highest levels of technical support within the organization. This individual will act as a technical escalation point, providing expert troubleshooting, systems administration, infrastructure support, cybersecurity oversight, and leadership for enterprise IT operations.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on infrastructure professional with deep Microsoft, VMware, networking, and security expertise who can support complex manufacturing and business-critical environments while mentoring junior IT staff.

• Has 5+ years of IT infrastructure and systems administration experience.
• Has supported enterprise-level environments and mission-critical production systems.
• Has strong experience with Microsoft server technologies, Azure, VMware, networking, and cybersecurity.
• Is comfortable serving as a technical escalation resource and mentoring junior IT team members.
• Can balance day-to-day operational support with project and infrastructure improvement initiatives.

• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, and Azure/Entra .
• Monitor system health, availability, patching, backups, and disaster recovery readiness.
• Maintain file services, print services, and remote desktop environments.

• Serve as a final escalation point for complex technical issues.
• Perform root cause analysis and advanced troubleshooting.
• Develop troubleshooting procedures and knowledge base documentation.
• Mentor and provide technical leadership to support personnel.

• Support VMware vSphere/ESXi environments.
• Manage virtual machine life cycles.
• Administer Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra , and Intune environments.
• Participate in cloud migration and modernization initiatives.

• Support LAN/WAN environments, VPNs, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, and network security.
• Troubleshoot VLAN, routing, DNS, and connectivity issues.
• Manage MFA, identity management, authentication systems, and certificates.
• Respond to security incidents and vulnerability findings.
• Support compliance and audit activities.

• Develop Power Shell automation solutions.
• Create SOPs, technical documentation, system diagrams, and infrastructure standards.
• Participate in infrastructure projects and technology deployments.
• Recommend improvements to IT processes and systems.

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
• Equivalent experience will be considered.

• 5+ years of infrastructure and systems administration experience.
• 3+ years supporting enterprise-level environments.
• Experience supporting production-critical systems.
• Strong understanding of incident escalation and resolution processes
