Part‑Time Maintenance Technician
Join Horizon Construction Group as a part‑time maintenance technician. This role is hosted by Horizon Management Services in the Janesville area. It is a 3‑day a week position totaling 24 hours, with on‑call duties every other week.
Position OverviewWe are a premier property management firm that values supportive managers, meaningful work, strong values, and employee appreciation. As a maintenance technician you will perform a variety of maintenance tasks—including repairs, preventive maintenance, and renovations—to keep our apartment buildings in top condition. You will work with vendors for warranty work as needed and collaborate with contractors and team members to complete projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting.
- Diagnose and repair issues in apartments and common areas promptly and efficiently.
- Conduct regular inspections of building systems and equipment to identify and address potential issues.
- Collaborate with contractors and other team members to complete projects on time and within budget.
- Implement and follow a preventive maintenance schedule.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and repairs.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly and effectively.
- Be available for on‑call duties as required to address urgent maintenance issues.
- Provide excellent customer service to residents and communicate effectively regarding maintenance requests.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with local building codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and participate in safety training and meetings as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or vocational training in building maintenance or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in apartment maintenance, building maintenance, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building systems.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Availability for on‑call and emergency maintenance duties.
