ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws/practice act.
- Performs assessments, planning, intervention and evaluation of care.
- Documents according to standards of care.
- Develops, initiates, and executes a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or clinic policy including patient and family instruction.
- Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.
- Utilizes clinical expertise & guidance to other units/departments in support of the patient's longitudinal plan of care.
- Utilizes critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience and appropriately escalates to the appropriate chain of command.
- Participates in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities and decisions and peer review process.
- Offers ideas and/or solutions to practice issues.
- Uses innovative methods and intuitive skills to develop and implement plans of care.
- Provides innovative ways to educate patient/families
- Initiates interdisciplinary collaboration to meet the patient/family educational needs.
- Actively participates in mentoring and precepting new partners to the organization.
- Positively influences the professional and organizational environments and shared governance.
- Engages in personal development and supports system-entity opportunities for continuous learning and growth including developing or revising evidence-based practice guidelines.
- IL: 20 Continuing education per year (10 of these per year are required for IL licensure) or WI: 20 Education hours
- Actively participates in a minimum of 1 departmental or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.

Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN)
OR
Associate Diploma in Nursing (ADN)/Diploma RN with a signed BSN Agreement
OR
ADN/Diploma RN with 5 years of RN experience
OR
ADN with Professional Nursing Certification
Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURELicensed as an RN in state of practice
Approved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days
Other certification(s) per unit requirements. For example: ACLS, PALS, PEARS, and NRP
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSPassing the Driver's License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring).
Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check. Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.
