Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide patient care as assigned and per routine as defined by educational scope, according to standards of care, shift routines, and policies and procedures.
- Answer call lights in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Document care provided according to standards.
- Maintain a clean work and patient environment.
- Maintain supplies, including scanning, stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies.
- Float to various units based on identified patient care needs.
- Participate in department or unit performance improvement activities.
- Train/precept new partners in collaboration with unit educator.
- Blood Glucose Monitoring (BGM) with lab personnel.
- Bladder scanning procedure reviewed.
- Bladder scanner training complete (check off sheet for competency).
- Attach patient to remote telemetry or bedside cardiac monitor.
- Manage and report collection devices: colostomy, ileostomy or other fecal management systems: care and output measures.
- Indwelling catheters: care and output measures.
- Nasogastric tubes to suction.
- Surgical drains under direction of supervising RN.
- Competent in completing vital signs: manual process for blood pressure and required reporting of abnormal values to supervising RN.
- Discontinue invasive devices under the direction of the supervising RN: indwelling (Foley) catheters, nasogastric tubes, peripherally inserted intravenous catheters, and similar devices as appropriate.
- Completion of a CNA program.
- Current CNA certificate in applicable state.
- Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.
