Travel Requirements

Requires travel to Walwork 1-2 times a month.

• Utilizes the nursing process and critical thinking in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.
• Performs assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care.
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and state laws and practice act as required by the care setting.
• Ensures all documentation is accurate and comprehensive in accordance with the established standards of care for documentation at the system and entity levels.
• Develops, initiates, and executes a patient plan of care according to the patient’s individualized needs, as prescribed by the physician and hospital policy. Utilizes resources to teach and support patient and family education, providing education at an appropriate level of understanding.
• Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, which may include shared governance.
• Utilizes clinical expertise to guide other units and departments in support of the patient’s longitudinal plan of care, acts to resolve systems breakdowns, and engages self and others in providing solutions.
• Applies critical thinking in regard to patient safety and experience, manages complex situations, delegates to other staff appropriately, and escalates to the appropriate chain of command as needed.
• Positively influences the professional and organizational environment and shared governance.
• Engages in personal development and supports system-entity opportunities for continuous learning and growth, including developing or revising evidence-based practice guidelines.
• Supports and participates in peer review and peer feedback opportunities.
• Participates in the professional nursing continuum.
• Maintains a timely flow of patients, responds to telephone calls, and performs telephone triage of patients.
• Completes 10 hours of continued education as required for Illinois licensure.

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• ADN required upon hire; BSN preferred.
• May require specific years of applicable experience as per department guidelines.

• Licensed as an RN in the state of practice.
• Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.
• Other unit-specific certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, PEARS, NRP) as required.

• May include color‑blindness testing per department guidelines.

Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Supervises nursing support staff as appropriate.
