Location:
United States of America, Wisconsin, Janesville, Metals Division – RG – Janesville.
Perform a variety of duties to ensure the quality of the company’s products through inspection, analysis, problem‑solving, and implementation of solutions. Work with production personnel to ensure all products meet customer specifications and that documentation is in compliance with established quality plans. Support continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Functions- Involved in all QA/QC activities in the projects assigned.
- Inspect and analyze failures on the floor.
- Conduct in‑line inspection of product.
- Work with production personnel on the prevention of problems and failures.
- Assist in inspection projects involving validation qualifications.
- Verify documentation completeness and accuracy in accordance with product release requirements.
- Investigate quality issues as assigned; assist with quality decisions with respect to product.
- Review and sign‑off of records.
- Support the Calibration program through monitoring of all calibrated equipment, training employees on how to use calibrated equipment, calibrating equipment in‑house, and coordinating inspections with third‑party vendors.
- Assure compliance to standard practices, including ASTM standards and ISO requirements.
- Red‑tag and generate NCRs for non‑conforming material.
- Investigate non‑conformances, initiate, implement, and coordinate corrective actions as appropriate.
- Compile quality data for report generation.
- Inspect parts using a variety of metrology equipment including gauges, micrometers, and other measuring devices.
- Write clear and concise reports as required.
- Read engineering drawings and interpret dimensions and tolerances.
- Communicate with management on a daily basis and make recommendations as needed.
- Participate in company‑wide 6S efforts.
- Maintain vigilance for export compliance.
- Contribute to efforts to maintain and improve the Quality Management System.
Education:
High School diploma or GED;
Associate’s degree preferred.
Experience:
3 to 5 years of job‑related experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to read and write English.
- Ability to maintain, set up and/or operate measuring and testing equipment to inspect and test tubing for conformance to applicable manufacturing specifications.
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong analytical and logical mindset.
- Strong team and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with internal customers.
- Knowledge in basic use and maintenance of saws, presses and other equipment related to test sample preparation or testing.
- Knowledge of tubing and pipe product characteristics preferred.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to stand and/or walk for a 12‑hour shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Work Environment:
Steel working plant.
