Job Summary
As a Girder Driver at County Materials Family of Companies, you will deliver girders and related products by operating a tractor‑trailer combination. You must use a Class A CDL, perform DOT inspections, secure oversized or heavy loads, and transport materials in compliance with federal, state, and local DOT regulations. Your work will take place outdoors in a construction‑related environment, and you will interact professionally with customers and dispatchers.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate customer service while interfacing with clients.
- Perform pre‑trip, post‑trip, and in‑route inspections on all equipment, including security devices.
- Properly secure loads prior to transport following DOT regulations.
- Operate tractor‑trailer combinations and transport product while ensuring DOT compliance.
- Perform duties consistent with all safety policies, including the use of proper PPE.
- Participate in loading and unloading girders.
- Perform route surveys prior to delivery.
- Ensure cleanliness and good operating conditions for assigned tractors.
- Receive work assignments and report back on job completion.
- Use consistent communication with dispatchers.
- Maintain customer relations by acting in a professional, courteous manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
- Experience with tractor‑trailer operations and DOT compliance.
- Knowledge of load securement techniques and safety regulations.
- Strong customer‑service orientation and professional communication skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in construction environments and use PPE.
