The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse that helps with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments, and consultations in the NICU.
Responsibilities- Conducts patient assessments through interviews, health histories, physical exams, and diagnostic studies.
- Identifies abnormal findings and collaborates with healthcare teams to develop treatment plans.
- Implements patient management and therapeutic plans based on assessments, lab results, and established protocols.
- Performs detailed history and physical exams, triages patients, and participates in multidisciplinary rounds.
- Documents patient care accurately and timely, including reports, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Provides compassionate, age‑appropriate care while supporting patients and families.
- Collaborates with healthcare professionals and shares clinical expertise to ensure quality and continuity of care.
- Maintains compliance with organizational policies, regulatory standards, and patient rights while supporting quality improvement.
Education/Training
- MN or MSN or DNP or PhD or DNS degree in nursing required.
Licensure/Certification
- CRNP Licensure (Neonatal Specialty) with Alabama State Board of Nursing
- NRP
Experience
- Must have at least one year of NP NICU Experience.
