Summary
The Mixer Driver will operate a truck equipped with an auxiliary concrete mixer, delivering ready‑mixed concrete to job sites. Responsibilities include loading, unloading, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safe, courteous operation while maintaining accurate paperwork. Must possess a valid “Class B” CDL license and pass a DOT physical and substance test.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Drive truck under loading hopper to receive sand, gravel, concrete, and water, then start the mixer.
- Drive truck to job sites for unloading.
- Operate lever to release concrete down the chute into wheelbarrow, container, or pouring area.
- Clean truck after delivery to prevent concrete from hardening.
- Apply protective compound to truck surfaces to prevent sticking.
- Assemble ready‑mix concrete chute as required.
- Inspect truck equipment and supplies (tires, lights, brakes, fluid levels).
- Drive safely and courteously.
- Work independently.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
- Present a professional image.
- Follow all DOT rules and regulations.
- Maintain accurate paperwork.
- Keep equipment clean and operational.
- Assist customers with placement and spreading of concrete as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Travel
- Less than 10%.
Language Skills
- Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Mathematical Skills
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
- Apply common sense to instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Handle problems with multiple variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid “Class B” CDL license and DOT physical/substance test clearance.
Physical Demands
- Reach, use hands, talk or hear; sit, stand, walk, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Lift and move up to 50 lb regularly.
- Close, distance, peripheral, depth, and focus vision.
