Dubois County CARES located in Jasper, Indiana, is entering an exciting new chapter. For years, CARES has operated as a grant‑funded coalition focused on youth substance use prevention, resilience‑building, and community education. As our programs and partnerships have expanded, so has our vision.
CARES has grown from a coalition and is now transitioning into an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, positioning us to grow our impact, diversify funding, and strengthen long‑term prevention efforts across Dubois County, Indiana.

Why We Are Seeking an Executive DirectorOur transformational journey has created the need to add an Executive Director, a strategic, mission‑driven leader who will lead CARES into its next phase. The Executive Director will:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership, guiding organizational vision, program execution, financial management, and community impact. Our current staff including a Program Director and part‑time Coordinator will report to the Executive Director.
- Manage key substance use prevention and education grants, including oversight of project scope, timelines, budgets, evaluation, data analysis, and partner relationships.
- Serve as a compelling advocate for youth, representing the organization publicly and building strong relationships with families, community partners, and stakeholders.
- Oversee daily operations, staff supervision, compliance, and budgeting to ensure effective, mission‑aligned organizational performance.
- Lead fundraising and resource development efforts—cultivating donors, securing grants and sponsor ships, and managing major fundraising initiatives.
- Partner closely with the Board of Directors on strategy, governance, reporting, and strengthening board engagement and capacity.

Who Is Our Ideal CandidateWe’re looking for a leader who brings a blend of education, experience, and genuine passion for supporting youth and community well‑being. The ideal candidate qualifications include:
- A bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, education, business, nonprofit management, psychology, or a related field preferred, but we also welcome candidates with equivalent experience in nonprofit leadership, community health, youth programs, or related work.
- Experience leading programs, teams, or initiatives in a business, nonprofit, school, community health, or social services setting.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to engage families, schools, community partners, and stakeholders.
- Experience with fundraising or resource development, whether through grants, donors, sponsor ships, or community partnerships.
- Knowledge of grant management, including reporting, evaluation, timelines, and partner coordination.
- Comfort working with a Board of Directors or advisory group and contributing to effective governance.
- Solid organizational, budgeting, and project management skills.
- A collaborative, compassionate leadership style and a commitment to youth health and prevention.
- An adaptable, hands‑on approach suited to a small but growing nonprofit organization.
The compensation range for this position is $55,000–$75,000.

This position is based in Jasper, Indiana, and because community relationships are central to our mission, we’re looking for someone who either lives in the Dubois County area or is excited to become part of the community.
