We are seeking a Consultant Ecologist to join our growing Nature Services Team in Naas and support the delivery of a wide range of engaging ecological projects within a collaborative and supportive technical environment.
Working closely with our sister office in Belfast, you’ll contribute to a diverse range of project types including nationally significant infrastructure, renewable energy developments, utility refurbishment schemes, and large Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID) projects.
You will work alongside inter‑disciplinary specialists including Biodiversity Net Gain and Natural Capital practitioners, arboriculturists, landscape architects, hydrologists, environmental scientists and geotechnical experts.

As a Consultant Ecologist
, you will be involved in the following activities:
- Planning and undertaking ecology surveys, including Fossitt habitat surveys and protected species surveys (e.g., badger, otter, bat, smooth newt).
- Assisting in the preparation of tenders and ecological deliverables such as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, EIAR chapters and Appropriate Assessment reports.
- Supporting client liaison and day‑to‑day project coordination.
- Engaging in consultation with regulators and stakeholders.
- Contributing to a positive, enthusiastic and supportive team culture.
- Attending regular weekly and monthly Ecology team meetings and knowledge‑sharing sessions.
- Making use of a generous professional development budget to pursue in‑house and external training.
- A relevant academic qualification and/or practical experience in ecology or a related discipline.
- Experience across a range of Irish habitats, ideally with exposure to protected species licensing or derogation licence applications through the National Parks and Wildlife Service.
- Experience contributing to Ecological Impact Assessment and drafting EIAR content.
- An understanding of the Appropriate Assessment process.
- Strong communication skills with a proactive, solution‑focused approach to project delivery.
