Position: Shuttle Driver - Night Shift - Kimball International Logistics Services, Jasper, IN - Jasper, IN

Role Description

Kimball International Logistics Services truck drivers are responsible for the on-time damage-free delivery of Kimball products. KIT fleet employees focus on safety and adhere to all DOT regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Drivers have responsibilities for the maintenance and management of equipment to safely and effectively meet the needs of the business.
  • Required to move trailers between Kimball locations which require the driver to couple & uncouple trailers many times within the shift.
  • On occasion, the driver could deliver finished product to customers within a close distance to Jasper. The driver is required to do this in a manner that is protective of both the driver and the product.
  • Expectations include that driver's act as "ambassadors of the company" toward customers and actively participate in managing customer relationships.
  • Drivers must be capable of self-management, and take responsibility for the delivery of product within company and customer expectations.
  • Always present a professional attitude and appearance and exhibits a total commitment to all aspects of safety.
  • Required to commit to ongoing training in order to maintain the reputation of professionalism, quality, and service for which Kimball drivers are known.
  • Read and understand maps and routing guides.
  • Take responsibility for customer directions.
  • Access voice mail daily.
  • Learn Kimball International locations & lots.
  • On occasion, the driver will need to cover for a Yard driver, which requires multiple trailers being jockeyed in and out of docks at our warehouse. This would be done by a yard truck.
Interpersonal Skills
  • Emphasizes on time, damage free delivery.
  • Off load freight per customer requirements.
  • Provide delivery on-time and damage free.
  • Understand and utilize methods to secure cargo; i.e. load locks, straps etc.
  • Report overages, shortages, and damaged pieces to the supervisor.
Communication Skills
  • Able to communicate well with customers, dispatchers, and co-workers.
  • Able to communicate information/feedback to and from customers.
  • Must be a good listener.
  • Must be able to solve problems.
  • Must present a professional image of the company.
  • Complete customer feedback forms & dialog with customer.

Safety
  • Operate equipment within KI guidelines regarding safety, courtesy and fuel efficiencies.
  • Follow KI specific accident reporting procedures - vehicular and Workers Comp.
  • Attend and participate in safety, operational, maintenance and all other required training meetings.
  • Meet Kimball International requirements regarding motor vehicle records.
  • Maintain a good driving and accident record.
  • Comply with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines.
  • Willing to be flexible.

Technical Skills DOT Regulations
  • Applies expectations that a driver will meet all requirements of federal, state and local transportation law as well as KIT specific requirements. Addresses licensing, inspection, and logging requirements.
  • Follow all DOT Regulations such as accidents, physicals, hours of service, drug testing, etc.
  • Clean MVR.
  • Possess a valid class A CDL license.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post trip inspections.
Equipment Operation
  • Knowledge and maintenance of equipment.
  • Keep trailer clean.
  • Hook & drop trailers properly and safely.
  • Fuel truck, remaining with the vehicle until completion.
  • Practice preventive maintenance and keep equipment clean & neat.
  • Manage maintenance breakdowns on the road.
Product Delivery
  • Knowledge of cargo management and customer service.
