Assistant Professor of Biology

PURPOSE:

* Replacement faculty position in Biology to fill instructional needs. This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position in the STM department. This position will be supporting the Master of Science in Natural Sciences and undergraduate programs including those in Biology, Agriculture, Nursing, Education, and the various preprofessional programs on campus.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Full-time, nine-month, tenure-track appointment teaching a full-time load.

* Expectations include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in plant biology, general biology, biology for majors, and an active externally funded research program involving undergraduate students.

* The ability to teach plant physiology and plant taxonomy is preferred.

* Lincoln University faculty are expected to also advise and mentor students and serve on

departmental and institutional committees.

ADDITIONAL

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* All duties pertinent to teaching, including curriculum development, mentoring, advising, participating in program assessment, review, and maintaining office hours will be required.

* This appointment will include an expectation of involvement in undergraduate clubs or organizations and the possibility of advising one of these organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* PhD. in Biology, Plant Biology or a related area is required - ABDs considered.

* Post-doctoral experience is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:

* Ability to work with a diverse student and faculty body is required.

* Prior teaching experience is strongly desired.

* The ability to work with a diverse range of student preparation in the classroom is preferred.

* Experience with undergraduate biology-related clubs or organizations is preferred.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

* PhD. in Biology, Cell Molecular Biology or a related area is required - ABDs considered.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

* Light sedentary office work.

* Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

* Ability to lift 25 lbs.
