The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, a PE license in Mechanical Engineering, and the ability to lead design efforts from concept through construction documents. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high‑visibility projects while collaborating with architects, contractors, and sustainability consultants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design Leadership:
Lead the full‑cycle design of HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems for new construction and renovation projects (commercial office, multifamily, mixed‑use, and hospitality).
  • Code & Standards:
Ensure all designs comply with ASHRAE, ICC, NFPA, local building codes, and applicable energy standards (e.g., LEED, WELL).
  • System Modeling & Analysis:
Develop and analyze energy models, CFD, and hydraulic calculations using software such as Carrier HAP, Trane TRACE, Autodesk Revit MEP, and Bentley Open Plant.
  • Documentation:
Produce detailed construction documents, specifications, and BIM models; coordinate with contractors and review shop drawings.
  • Project

    Collaboration:

Work closely with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and sustainability consultants to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into the overall building design.
  • Client Interaction:
Present design concepts, performance data, and value‑engineering options to clients and stakeholders.
  • Quality Assurance:
Perform peer reviews, conduct design audits, and implement continuous improvement processes.
  • Mentorship:
Supervise and mentor junior engineers and CAD/BIM technicians; foster a collaborative, knowledge‑sharing environment.
  • Business Development:
Contribute to proposal development, cost estimating, and feasibility studies for new projects.
Required Qualifications
  • Education:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field). Master's degree is a plus.
  • Professional License:
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical Engineering (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • Experience:

Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in mechanical design, with at least 5 years specifically designing HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial and residential projects.
  • Technical

    Skills:

Proficiency with Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Carrier HAP, Trane TRACE, Bentley Open Plant, or equivalent BIM and analysis tools. Strong knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
  • Code Knowledge:
Understanding of ASHRAE standards, ICC building code, local jurisdiction codes, and energy efficiency standards (LEED, WELL, ENERGY STAR).
  • Project Management:
Experience managing design phases, coordinating multidiscipline teams, and meeting project deadlines and budgets.
  • Communication:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical information to non‑technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with sustainable design and net‑zero energy projects.
  • Knowledge of chilled water, steam, and VRF systems, as well as plumbing fixture selection for water efficiency.
  • Prior work on mission‑critical, commercial, and/or residential projects
  • Familiarity with commissioning and post‑occupancy performance verification.
  • Ability to mentor and train junior staff and conduct technical workshops.
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary range commensurate with experience.
  • Comprehensive benefits: health, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and professional development stipend.
  • Flexible hybrid work model - office days for collaboration, remote days for focused design work.
