GIS Field Technician

Palmetto Engineering & Consulting seeks a GIS Field Technician to support utility, telecommunications, and industrial projects. In this field-focused role, you'll collect GPS data, verify assets, and update GIS databases to support engineering design, planning, and construction. Responsibilities include site visits, map production, data QA/QC, and working closely with engineers and project managers. Responsibilities

• Collect and verify field data for utility, telecom, and industrial projects using GPS and GIS tools
• Update and maintain GIS databases, maps, and asset records with accurate spatial information
• Collaborate with engineers and project managers to support design, planning, and construction activities
• Conduct site visits, asset inventories, and field inspections while following strict safety protocols
• Interpret construction drawings, utility records, and survey data for field verification
• Prepare maps, reports, and documentation to support client deliverables and project closeout
• Troubleshoot data quality issues and ensure compliance with company and client standards
• Communicate project status, field findings, and issues to the engineering team
• Use mobile data collection applications and GIS software to streamline workflows
• Support continuous improvement of field and GIS processes and tools
