How This Position Supports The Department’s Vision
The Excise Tax team processes motor fuel, tobacco and financial institutions taxes and returns, as well as payments for county fees and insurance. In this supervisory position your efforts not only guide employees to process tobacco and financial institution tax returns, refunds, and assist Missouri taxpayers with return and licensing compliance, but your work can directly impact the distribution of tax funds to local city and county governments and taxpayers.
- Oversee the processing of tobacco and financial institution tax returns
- Oversee depositing of tobacco tax collections, county fee payments and insurance payments
- Oversee the licensing of entities in the tobacco industry and the processing of monthly tobacco tax returns
- Supervise, coach and mentor employees to meet their full potential
- Track daily staff production reports and monitor work flow backlogs
- Address telephone and e-mail inquiries from tobacco tax licensees regarding registration and reporting issues
- Train new staff members and cross train current employees
- Conduct staff engage meetings and evaluations
- Perform other related work or special projects as assigned by management
- Participate in cross education of job functions in the Excise Tax section

- Possess high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
- Four or more years of experience in licensing, registration, collections, tax preparation, tax processing, accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, or closely related work. (Substitutions may be allowed)
