Why You’ll Love This PositionOffice of Administration, Division of Accounting (OA-DOA) seeks a qualified degreed professional for the Financial Unit Supervisor. This position is responsible for supervising a staff of 9 FTE responsible for a variety of duties relating from Accounts Payable and Purchasing as it relates to OA FMDC. The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck.
A pay differential does not raise your base pay.
Some of the duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide supervision and leadership to OA-Accounting FMDC Accounts Payable Unit
- Ensure that state statutes, rules and agency policies are complied with in connection with payment of vendor invoices in a timely manner in order to avoid penalties provided by law.
- Establish and enforce workplace policies and procedures within the accounting unit.
- Monitor and adjust workloads between accounting unit sections and personnel to maintain an appropriate balance of duties and to maintain high productivity and an efficient workflow.
- Advise supervisors and staff in resolving issues, including improperly documented invoices.
- Provide reporting, advice and guidance to FMDC director and management regarding expenditures of state funds to facilitate the annual appropriation and expenditures processes.
- Maintain liaison and contact with OA-FMDC-Accounting regarding appropriate controls governing expenditures of state funds.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal, supervisory and communication skills.
- Demonstrate ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff and agency personnel, remain flexible, self‑motivated, assume considerable initiative, work independently with little supervision, and exercise sound independent judgment.
- Ability to lead, educate and motivate staff.
- Considerable knowledge of, and experience with, SAM II Financial System on‑line, data warehouse and MOBIUS reports.
- Considerable knowledge of, and experience with, Missouri
BUYS. - Knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel.
- Knowledge of Governmental Accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Ability to develop new methods and procedures to meet changing needs.
- Knowledge of the state's organizational structure and how business is required to be conducted.
- Ability to formulate and initiate plans and procedures for effective and efficient establishment and maintenance of fiscal controls.
- Ability to apply general concepts to specific problems of accounting, auditing, purchasing procedures and fiscal management practices based upon cost effective evaluations.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate policies and operations and formulate recommendations.
