Position: Assistant Controller (4103046)

Job Location: This position will be located at 920 Wildwood, Jefferson City, MO 65109.

The Assistant Controller position is integral in overseeing the bureau of Health Fiscal Services and a variety of other fiscal duties. The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay

  • Oversee Bureau of Health Fiscal Services (HFS)
  • Work hand in hand with HFS Supervisors to ensure forward movement of Purchasing and Accounts Payble processes to meet federal guidelines
  • Present at in-person trainings, meetings, and informational sessions as needed
  • Develop clear and consistent communication methods for the bureau
  • Help faciliate process change with implementation of the State's new financial system
  • Inspire, mentor, and lead the team in their role of effectively supporting departmental operations
  • Plan, organize, assign, and evaluate the work of team members performing a variety of accounting related functions
  • Perform backup functions for the Controller
  • Maintain systems, procedures, and policies that enable and encourage optimum performance of the team
  • Provide technical support and training to department staff
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access, Internet, and the state's financial system
  • Identify issues, evaluate options and recommend solutions
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree and 4-6 years of relevant experience. CPA or CGFM preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Be accountable for themselves and to the team
  • Highly organized, proactive and possess strong analytical skills
  • Exercise independence, judgment, and initiative in the performance of their duties
  • Ability to multi-task, manage time, prioritize, and meet deadlines
