The Public Health Program Manager oversees, plans, and implements public health programs to improve community health outcomes. This role involves managing program activities, coordinating with stakeholders, monitoring performance, ensuring compliance with regulations, and leading a team of public health professionals. The Program Manager ensures that initiatives are effective, sustainable, and aligned with organizational goals and public health standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Planning & Implementation
- Develop, implement, and manage public health programs and initiatives.
- Define program goals, objectives, timelines, and deliverables.
- Ensure alignment with organizational mission, community needs, and regulatory requirements.
- Team Management & Coordination
- Supervise and mentor program staff, including public health officers, coordinators, and field staff.
- Assign tasks, monitor performance, and support professional development.
- Foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and departments.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, NGOs, community groups, and healthcare partners.
- Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and public forums.
- Coordinate community outreach, awareness campaigns, and stakeholder consultations.
- Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
- Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks for program activities.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret program data to measure impact.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Budget & Resource Management
- Develop program budgets and manage resources effectively.
- Monitor expenditures, track funding, and ensure efficient utilization of resources.
- Identify funding opportunities and assist in proposal writing.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure programs comply with public health policies, regulations, and ethical standards.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Education:
- Master's degree in Public Health (MPH), Healthcare Management, or a related field.
- Additional certifications in program management or project management is a plus.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in public health program management or related roles.
- Proven experience managing teams and coordinating large-scale health initiatives.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership, strategic planning, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis, program evaluation, and reporting.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet program deadlines.
- Knowledge of public health policies, standards, and regulations.
