This position may be filled at one of the three levels based on knowledge, skills, and abilities. The entry salary is posted above, with the intermediate starting salary of $56,712.48, and a senior starting salary of $61,249.44.

The information systems technologist performs routine entry-level activities in the areas of application/program development and computer system support for end users, including program debugging, server maintenance, information system management for software applications, problem diagnosis/resolution, and communications. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision.

What

you'll do:
  • Provides IT support to end-users over the phone and in person relative to hardware and software issues; analyzes, diagnoses and resolves issues.
  • Install, maintain, and update software applications, operating systems, computer hardware, peripherals, and other technology resources.
  • Collaborates with department personnel to plan and recommend solutions for current and future application needs and system compatibility.
  • Create and maintain documentation such as user guides, installation procedures, troubleshooting instructions, and technical/testing materials.
  • Support MoDOT conferences and events by assisting with IT‑related needs including hardware setup, audio/visual equipment, and on‑site technical troubleshooting.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 60 credit hours toward a related Bachelor's Degree,
    OR
  • Associate’s Degree:
    Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field,
    OR
  • High School Diploma or GED/HiSET, and two years of experience in computer systems, repairs, and operations.
Special Working Conditions/Job Characteristics:
  • Job requires occasional, statewide, overnight travel; a valid driver's license is required.
  • Demonstrates strong customer service skills and a willingness to learn in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Must be able to move and transport equipment as needed.
  • Participates in rotating weekly on‑call support approximately five times per year.
