Legal Counsel

Job Location: This position will be located at 912 Wildwood Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65109 or remote.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) exists to promote and protect the health and wellness of Missouri citizens. This position provides legal guidance to DHSS programs. This position will handle a variety of responsibilities, with opportunities to emphasize practice areas that interest the attorney. Experience with state procurement utilizing federal funding, human resources, data governance, and/or administrative law is preferred but not required.

Pay is commensurate with experience.

The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.

• Provide counsel on contract drafting and monitoring
• Represent DHSS in circuit courts and hearings tribunals
• Assist with Administrative Rule making
• Assist with analyzing legislation
• Pursue guardian ships for adults
• Represent DHSS in employee disqualification matters
• Provide other legal services as assigned

• Current member of the Missouri Bar in good standing
• Able to travel in-state to circuit courts; overnight travel is rare, but required on occasion
