Location: Jefferson City, Missouri
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Building Engineer will oversee a team of maintenance professionals and work collaboratively across departments to support a clean, efficient, and secure work environment.
Responsibilities- Supervise maintenance staff including an Assistant Building Engineer, Custodial Specialist, Custodian/Maintenance Assistant, and seasonal interns; assign tasks, provide coaching and training, and inspect work to ensure compliance with safety standards and cleanliness protocols.
- Plan and execute preventive maintenance programs; perform hands‑on repairs to HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems; coordinate with external contractors for larger projects, including soliciting bids, reviewing proposals, and overseeing vendor work to meet building codes and organizational standards.
- Oversee outdoor maintenance, landscaping, debris removal, and snow clearing to maintain safe and accessible pathways and parking areas.
- Manage procurement of supplies and equipment for janitorial and maintenance needs in accordance with purchasing policies and budget guidelines; coordinate office vehicle maintenance, deliveries, pickups, and serve as the primary contact for the facility’s security monitoring company.
- Assist with office construction projects and budget planning.
- High school diploma or GED; vocational training or five years of commercial building maintenance experience preferred.
- Two years of supervisory experience preferred; valid Missouri driver’s license required.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, OSHA regulations, and maintenance best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics; troubleshoot building system issues confidently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for managing maintenance schedules, documentation, and communication.
- Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills essential for success in this position.
