Job Summary
Provides care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, functioning within the scope of license.
Responsibilities- Contribute to the assessment of patients and ensure their well‑being.
- Administer medications and observe patients for adverse reactions.
- Perform laboratory tests and therapeutic services.
- Educate patients and families about disease treatment plans, self‑care after discharge, holistic health needs, available resources, and follow‑up care.
- Document provider encounters, diagnoses, symptoms, discharge/follow‑up instructions, and prescriptions as directed.
- Transcribe patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
- Complete patient charts by transcribing lab results, x‑rays, and other evaluations.
- Continuously check the progress of data availability for orders to ensure a complete workup for provider decision‑making.
- Transcribe consultations or discussions with family and/or private physician or on‑call physician.
- Maintain a constant state of alertness and safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
Experience: No experience required.
Physical Requirements- Constant use of speech for oral communication.
- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify color distinctions.
- Frequent use of smell to detect odors.
- Frequent use of hearing for oral communication, body sounds, alarms, etc.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Occasional moving of patients.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Occasional driving.
- Rare crawling and running.
- Illinois:
Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA) and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). - Missouri, Oklahoma, Wisconsin:
Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA) and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Nurse Licensure Issued by Compact State.
Day Shift. Scheduled weekly hours: 36.
