Job Specific

Competencies:

• Answer telephone calls, calling patients with results, scheduling testing and appointments.
• Processing prior authorizations and referrals.
• Assists the physician and/or nurse to provide physical care for the patient before, during, and after examinations and procedures, as needed.
• Provides nursing care to patients in the clinic following the MO Nurse Practice Act, RN Scope of Practice.
• Participates in educational experiences designed to maintain competence.
• Uses facility communication systems correctly.
• Performs routine clerical activities required for efficient operation of the ambulatory clinic.
• Ensures efficient customer friendly telephone communication.

• Strives for continuous quality improvement.
• Participates in educational experiences designed to maintain and/or improve professional competence.
• Maintains high work ethic standards.
• Provides quality customer service to staff, patients and visitors at all times.

Education:

• Graduate from an approved LPN or RN School of Nursing

Experience:

• 1 year in an acute care setting; prefer an additional 1 year in ambulatory care

Certification/License:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support Certified or obtain within 90-days of employment

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Basic computer skills

Works in heated and air-conditioned area; may be exposed to infectious material and contagious conditions; frequently exposed to patient body fluids, including blood and contaminated sharps; potential for exposure to hazardous disinfecting chemicals and radiation; must follow universal precautions and utilize personal protective equipment.
