Street Maintenance Worker
The City of Jefferson is currently accepting for two Street Maintenance Workers for our Public Works Department, Street Division. This position maintains City-owned streets and sidewalks, performs street sweeping, snow removal, right-of-way mowing, routine maintenance on equipment.
Examples of DutiesPerforms scheduled maintenance, cleaning and repairs on City streets, rights-of-ways, curb, gutters, alleys, medians, storm water drainage systems, and retention basins. Repairs and maintains city streets by patching asphalt, concrete, and gravel streets. Performs routine maintenance activities such as snow removal from City owned sidewalks and streets. Performs repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment. Operates equipment such as backhoes, loaders, bobcat, dump truck, boom truck and brush hog.
TypicalQualifications
Physical:
Ability to work in extreme weather conditions; lift, carry, push and pull up to 100 pounds stand for extended periods; and operate backhoes, loaders, bobcat and dump truck.
Mental:
Ability to be on call 24 hours a day for emergency purposes; follow directions; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and organize equipment requirement necessary for daily jobs. Requires a high school diploma and one year experience in construction and equipment maintenance and repair.
Must have Missouri CDL Class A or B with air brakes and tank endorsement within 6 months of hire. The salary is based on the candidate's qualifications, with a minimum starting rate of $20.00 per hour. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
