Transit Service Worker

The City of Jefferson is accepting applications for a Transit Services Worker
for our Transit Division. This part-time with benefit position performs semi-skilled responsible work in the general care of buses and other equipment and facilities and other related work as required.

• Washes buses' exterior using an automated wash facility and steam cleaners.
• Cleans buses' interiors.
• Fuels and checks fluid level of transit vehicles.
• Delivers replacement vehicles to operators in route.
• Maintains shop spaces and grounds.
• Performs related tasks as required.

High school diploma or equivalent, experience in light maintenance, care and operation of large automotive equipment preferred.

Must possess a valid drivers' license and the ability to obtain a class B CDL within 6 months of hire.

Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

General knowledge of the operation and routine cleaning requirements of transit passenger buses; general knowledge of traffic laws and regulations governing passenger bus operations on public streets; general knowledge of routine maintenance and repair work and of the use of common hand tools; skill in the safe operation of passenger buses and the automated wash facility; ability to perform manual labor;

ability to follow oral and written instructions.

This position will work 7 - 7.5 hours a day, Monday - Friday and work between the hours of 10AM to 7PM.
