Plant ControllerJob Summary
The Plant Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial activities within a manufacturing facility. This role partners closely with plant leadership to drive financial performance, improve operational efficiency, maintain strong internal controls, and ensure accurate financial reporting. The Plant Controller analyzes manufacturing costs, manages budgeting and forecasting, supports strategic decision-making, and ensures compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all plant accounting and financial reporting activities.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and operational reports.
- Develop, manage, and monitor the annual operating budget and periodic forecasts.
- Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory valuation, labor, overhead, and production variances.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend process improvements to increase profitability.
- Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Production teams to improve financial and operational performance.
- Oversee inventory accounting, physical inventory counts, and cycle count processes.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal control requirements.
- Monitor capital expenditures and prepare financial analyses for capital investment projects.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and provide requested documentation.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and communicate financial results to plant leadership.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of manufacturing metrics and financial performance.
- Supervise and develop plant accounting staff, when applicable.
- Assist with ERP implementations, system improvements, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
