Painter Assistant

Position Summary - Sprays surfaces of trucks, buses, vans or other vehicles assigned with protective or decorative material, such as paint, enamel, glaze, gel‑coat, or lacquer, using a spray gun.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review repair estimates for painting instructions and create plan to perform work.
• Provide proper tools and tool storage for performing assigned tasks.
• Disassemble and re‑assemble truck parts and accessories for access to painted surfaces.
• Sand, prime and prep painted surfaces.
• Operate air‑operated sanding and grinding equipment.
• Perform all taping and masking in a professional manner to ensure a quality and acceptable finished product.
• Identify that surfaces are paint ready before applying paint products.
• Receive proper training for applying paint products and possess knowledge of paint mixing procedures.
• Be familiar with safety equipment for painting, respirators, body protection, etc.
• Provide a quality and acceptable paint finish for all paint assignments.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

One year certificate from a fully accredited college or technical school.

Experience

Minimum of two years related experience and/or training.

An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.

Specific Experience

• Knowledge of respirator systems.
