Job Summary

The Advanced Practice Clinician (APC), Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, works in collaboration with and is an integral member of a multidisciplinary health care team. The APC provides comprehensive care in the behavioral health ambulatory practice setting, including office‑based outpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient levels of care.

Responsibilities Assessment & Management
  • Performs complete psychiatric evaluations, including documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Orders and collects data using appropriate assessment techniques and diagnostic procedures where indicated.
  • Serves as the first responder for nursing and house staff in patient status changes and procedural or resuscitative interventions.
  • Assesses risks and contributing factors for acute and complex chronically ill patients, including medical comorbidities, medication side effects, and psychosocial determinants.
Diagnosis
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary health care team to diagnose acute and complex chronic conditions.
  • Manages diagnostic tests through ordering, interpretation, performance, and supervision.
  • Formulates differential diagnoses by priority and orders appropriate interventions.
Plan of Care
  • Identifies expected outcomes and formulates a documented plan of care for complex acute and chronic health needs.
  • Utilizes evidence‑based practice guidelines and protocols in an individualized, dynamic plan of care applicable across the continuum.
  • Implements and modifies the plan of care, prescribes diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions, and may perform advanced procedures and psychotherapeutic techniques consistent with privileges, training, and competency validation.
Documentation
  • Documents key progress components via daily progress notes, transfers, discharge summaries, or clinic notes where applicable.
  • Ensures documentation is timely, meets acute care compliance standards, and captures patient acuity.
Communication and Collaboration
  • Maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with the interdisciplinary health care team and supervising physician.
  • Facilitates communication with patients, families, and staff to promote continuity of care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
Professional Practice
  • Demonstrates professional practice behaviors with department staff, the care team, and the preceptor/mentoring of students where applicable.
  • Seeks active engagement in research, evidence‑based practice analysis, and participation in Jefferson Health enterprise meetings.
  • Participates in specialty‑specific meetings as scheduled.
  • Maintains CEUs, licensure, certifications, and trainings as dictated by professional standards.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree.
  • National Board Certification as a Psychiatric‑Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (CAQ‑Psych Preferred) or equivalent experience.
Salary and Compensation

Salary is determined based on candidate experience, skills, and qualifications. The position is not eligible for an annual incentive and reflects an estimated amount for a 1.0 Full‑Time Equivalent (FTE).

Work Shift and Location

Workday:
Day (United States of America). Primary location: 443 Laurel Oak Road, Voorhees, New Jersey, United States of America.
