You’ll Do
  • As a school bus driver, you’re more than just a driver; you’re a trusted adult, a friendly face, and a daily source of stability for students.
  • Get students to and from school safely and on time.
  • Drive your route confidently in all kinds of weather and traffic.
  • Create a respectful, safe environment on the bus.
  • Build great connections with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Help students who need a little extra assistance getting on or off the bus.
  • Keep your vehicle clean, fueled, and ready to roll.
  • Handle daily safety checks and basic maintenance.
  • Follow all transportation laws, school policies, and route directions.
What You Bring
  • A Class A or B CDL or willingness to get one (we’ll train you!).
  • Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements or the ability to get them.
  • A clean driving record and the ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screening.
  • Great communication skills and a calm, friendly attitude.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail.
  • A desire to be a positive influence in your community.

  • Check the condition of a vehicle s tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order.
  • Drive gasoline, diesel, or electrically powered multi-passenger vehicles to transport students between neighborhoods, schools, and school activities.
  • Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Follow safety rules as students board and exit buses or cross streets near bus stops.
  • Keep bus interiors clean for students.
  • Maintain knowledge of first-aid procedures.
  • Maintain order among students during trips to ensure safety.
  • Pick up and drop off students at regularly scheduled neighborhood locations, following strict time schedules.
  • Prepare and submit reports that may include the number of students or trips, hours worked, mileage, or fuel consumption.
  • Read maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
  • Record bus routes.
  • Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilation systems for student comfort.
  • Report any bus malfunctions or needed repairs.
  • Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
  • Report delinquent student behaviors to school administration.
Other Experience and Qualifications
  • Same requirements as above: A Class A or B CDL or willingness to get one (we’ll train you!), Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements or ability to get them, a clean driving record and the ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screening, strong communication skills, a calm friendly attitude, reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail, and a desire to be a positive influence in your community.
