- Prepare and review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
- Research and resolve reconciling items
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
- Ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and properly documented
- Analyze accounts receivable balances and aging trends
- Investigate unapplied cash, aged balances, and customer account discrepancies
- Partner with business stakeholders to resolve complex receivable-related matters
- Monitor and support cash application and reconciliation activities
- Support accounting for premiums, commissions, ceded activity, and other insurance-related transactions
- Assist with operational accounting activities related to programs, settlements, and other complex transactions
- Prepare audit-ready schedules and supporting documentation
- Respond to internal and external audit requests
- Assist with SOX, control, and compliance-related activities
- Maintain documentation supporting key accounting processes and controls
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and reduce manual effort
- Assist in developing standardized procedures and documentation
- Participate in system implementations, process enhancements, and special projects
- Leverage Excel and reporting tools to automate recurring tasks and analyses
- Partner with Accounting, Finance, Operations, Billing, Claims, and other functional teams
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff when appropriate
- Contribute to accountability, continuous improvement, and customer service
- Perform other duties as assigned
- 3+ years accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required
- Experience in operational accounting close work
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proven ability to collaborate and work as part of a team
- Good working knowledge of US GAAP accounting
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables
- Working knowledge of General Ledger Systems such as Workday preferred but not required
- Insurance experience is a plus
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a plus
- Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
- Unable to sponsor or take over work authorization sponsorship now or in the future
Demonstrates expertise in accounting processes, including month-end and year-end close activities, account reconciliations, and compliance with US GAAP. Proficient in leveraging advanced Excel skills for financial analysis and reporting while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
