The Ruhlin Company seeks to hire a Project Engineer for its Civil Division. The position is based out of Ruhlin's Sharon Center office.
SummaryProvide technical and administrative support to the project team, ensuring accurate communication between the field and office. This entry-level role focuses on learning project systems while supporting safety documentation, material tracking, and cost reporting to help keep the project on schedule and within budget.
Responsibilities Document Control- Review plans, specifications, and standard drawings in accordance with owner requirements.
- Organize and maintain digital and hard-copy plan sets and distribute revisions to all affected parties.
- Submit RFIs to the architect, owner, or subcontractors to help resolve plan conflicts.
- Create and maintain a submittal log using project required software.
- Record and distribute meeting minutes from subcontractor and owner meetings.
- Understand company phase code structure to support accurate job costing and budget tracking.
- Review and approve field timecards for accuracy in accordance with union agreements.
- Track and enter weekly progress of quantities for self-perform work.
- Review weekly jobsite production reports for accuracy and emerging project trends.
- Assist in compiling and submitting force accounts for payment.
- Track delivered material quantities using bills of lading and verify invoices for correct billing and unit pricing.
- Review subcontractor and purchase order scopes, qualifications, and terms, and support project staff with payment processing.
- Review weekly shop and mechanics time entries for accuracy and communicate discrepancies to the project manager.
- Document and report jobsite progress photos.
- Attend job-site safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site-specific planning meetings.
- Maintain project safety documentation, including the bulletin board, for the duration of the project.
- Assist in scheduling and tracking required law enforcement officers for traffic control.
- Manage inventory of standard safety supplies (e.g., vests, gloves) and coordinate with the Safety Department as needed.
- Collect subcontractor safety documentation and submit it to the owner as required.
- Promote and reinforce the company’s safety culture.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Previous internship experience in construction is a plus.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 is a plus; ability to learn additional software programs.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good time management and organization skills.
- Good interpersonal skills with a high-energy, team-oriented approach and a focus on providing good customer service.
